Backstory:
XiMin was born in Baton Rouge to a Korean mother who was being exploited by a family member who had paid for her Visa to work and live in the US. She was working in a restaurant that wasn’t “just” a restaurant but a part of a small time human trafficking ring. After XiMin was born pressure intensified for his mother to “work more” to pay off the never ceasing debt. The pressure eventually broke her and at the encouragement of one of her regular clients, she ended up abandoning XiMin at a local parish in Baton Rouge. XiMin has only vague memories of his mother with whom he lived with until the age of 3 and never saw again. After he was abandoned, he spent a short time in child services and then taken into foster care. He and his new Vietnamese foster sister would be cared for by a rich influential family that had an obsession for “cute Asian children.” His foster mother treated him as a dress up toy and his foster father secretly abused him.

It was because of his foster sisters intense jealousy of him and what she assumed was favoritism from their foster father, that allowed then called “Timi” to escape the toxic environment. His sister, in trying to frame Timi for setting a shed fire, instead caught on camera the toxic attention their foster father directed exclusively toward Timi. The footage was used to strip Mr. Ranchette  of his power, influence and wealth. The wife took both children for a short while. However eventually his foster mother grew disinterested in a psychologically damaged little boy who began to act out and no longer 3 years old. Timi was then placed back in the system, bouncing from home to home for another 5 years until he was adopted by an infertile couple who had strong ties to Korea.

With the O’Neals Timi slowly rebounded and excelled in martial arts, swimming and dance. During a family vacation they stumbled across an open audition being held by a major Korean entertainment company. Timi expressed interest in trying out with the encouragement of his adoptive father. Because of his talent and pretty looks; he was selected in the top 10. Soon thereafter he received a one way ticket to Seoul and became a member of the company’s trainee program. After 4 short years he debuted in a 5 member boy group called “Asphalt” as the rapper. Asphalt promoted in Japan for it’s first single which reached no. 3 on the Melon chart, however shortly after the boys were caught up in a drunk driving scandal. Two of the members were severely injured requiring facial reconstruction surgery and Timi was sent to the US until the scandal died down. It was when he returned to live in the US that he met Martine in person for the first time.
